Today's yoga class had a theme that was a riff on the "Best of"'s that come at the end of the year. In our practice we were encouraged to recall the times during the past year when we were the best selves we could be. A challenge!
I thought about:
Getting through the cast-boot-limping in shoes thing in semi-good grace
Appreciating Bill for helping with that
Getting back to writing, a little
And to knitting
Loving the life I get to lead--travels, friends, ocean, home
Kicking the garden up a notch
Finding more settled, clearer way of meditating
Helping resolve some conflicts in various places
Feeling good about time in Chicago
Fighting my way back to yoga--it would be so easy to blow it off, tell myself I'm too old
And this, most recently--finally understanding about the danger of falling into habitual patterns of response to the world
Hardly the kind of "Best of" list I'd have wanted 20 years ago! But works for me.
