(In this meme, you post the first sentence of the first post of each month--and I have to say, my year looks very boring seen from this perspective. Boring to read can be pleasant to live, though...)

It may be late, but it's so nice to be able to offer a greeting that's not laden with overtones of somebody's controversy.
Today I reconnected with a person I'd known a long time ago, and it was a special day.
Bush Poetry (from an email that's going around--apologies if you've already seen it. I know you've seen many of these as separate quotes, but look how much more wonderful they are as a mass of...)
So feeling a tiny bit more professional since this week I got a decent royalty check from the second edition of the textbook and also wrote a book review that got published in the local newspaper.
OK, for the first time I actually liked Addison, last night.
Sorry to be so out of touch--I'm on other people's dial-up until the end of the week, so should reappear on LJ around that time.
Well, Masq and d'H have written the definitive summaries of Tahoe, and Jane, Elle, and others have posted great pictures, so just a couple of thoughts from me--mostly how great it was to be with everyone.
Got this from wisewoman:
Sometimes it's good when a man passes you by--and in the cased of Ernesto, double-good.
Kyra Sedgwick came to my yoga class tonight!
Maybe we all sometimes think LJ is its own world, unrelated to real life (and maybe that's a good thing) but here's a case where LJ made something happen.
I've just fallen into one of the potholes of life, to put it mildly.
Well, my husband now has surgery scheduled for next week. Not the best way to start the new year, but I think he'll be glad for it, if the results are what we hope. He's having a body part removed that he didn't even know he had, until it started going wrong: the parathyroid. Evidently we have several of them. They regulate the calcium in the blood, and when you have too much you get fatigued (his main symptom) and then confused (so that explains it!). He has good and bad days, but is glad to know there's something actually wrong that can be made right.
Not looking forward to the idea of him having general anesthetic, and the possible damage to his voice, but the surgeon thinks the risk is very low. Nevertheless, I'm putting off all the me-stuff and spending New Year's here with him.

I got a slightly late package from my son and his partner: a very cool one-strap pack, which I love, an autographed knitting book from the owner of Article Pract, and best and most marvelous of all, a gorgeous *felted* yoga-mat bag that D, my son's partner, made for me. It's incredibly lovely--brillant colors, soft, thick wool. I'll get some pictures up soon. Wow, I love late presents! They make a whole day great, no matter what they are--and this one is spectacular!

Today: selling fireworks, teaching meditation at the men's prison, and fooling with my iPod. And listening to endless obits on Ford. Nice guy, I guess. A lot better Republican than the kind they make now.
